Central Research Institute «BUREVESTNIK» was founded in Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod) by USSR Defense Ministry order №272 dated 2 July 1970 as the central Russian enterprise, specializing in design and development of tube artillery systems for Army and Navy use.
Nowadays, the Institute solves the following urgent tasks:
- academic research and R&D works on creating artillery and mortar systems;
- serial production of modern weapons and military equipment.
Throughout its existence, the Institute has accomplished over 600 Research and Development Projects. Over 70 models of new artillery weapon systems have been designed and demonstrated to the Customer.
The business structure of the Research Institute comprises a large research and development center, manufacturing complex and testing facilities equipped with the most advanced information technologies, unique workbenches and the latest-technology equipment stock. This allows the company to carry out a full cycle of development and serial production: from development and testing of artillery weapons to manufacturing and selling them, including maintenance and repair of the equipment supplied.
The highly-qualified design and development department combined with the modern manufacturing facilities makes JSC CRI Burevestnik one of the most important manufacturers of artillery weapon systems not only in Russia but also abroad.
Now, the Institute staff number amounts to about 1400 people; among them there are about 500 designers and researchers, 20 Doctors of Engineering and Candidates of Sciences, known for their works in the field of Artillery Weapon and Support Systems.
On the basis of the Institute, the Artillery Armament department was organized in the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University n.a. R.E.Alekseev for target training of specialists having a college degree in the professional field of CRI Burevestnik.
CRI Burevestnik actively promotes its products on foreign markets contributing to the increase of the export component of the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation.
