The mortar is designed to engage enemy personnel (wearing individual armor), firing assets and unarmored equipment situated in the open and in uncovered field entrenchments, including those situated on rear slopes of hills. It is also used for blinding the enemy, smoking its firing assets, laying smoke-screens and terrain illumination.
